Wilko Plug-In Solar Panels: All 6 UKSOL Kits Checked (2026)
This article contains affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence our recommendations — we call out weaknesses as plainly as strengths.
Yes, Wilko sells plug-in solar. It stocks six kits, all from UKSOL, priced from £599 to £999 including VAT. They are sold online only, delivered direct from the supplier. You cannot collect them from a store or return them to one.
The good news: every one of the six matches a compliant Plug-in Solar listing on the ENA Type Test Register, which is what makes plugging a kit into an ordinary socket legal under SI 2026/848.
The catch most people will miss: Wilko's own product pages say the hybrid-mount kits are "not suitable for balconies". These are wall and ground kits. If you searched "balcony solar" and landed on Wilko, read the balcony section before you order.
Prices, stock and register status checked 7 October 2026.

The Short Answer
Wilko is a perfectly legitimate place to buy a certified plug-in solar kit, and its hybrid-kit prices match those reported for Argos. On the two ground-mount kits, though, UKSOL's own store is £80–£100 cheaper.
But Wilko is acting as a shop window here, not a retailer in the usual sense. The kit ships from the supplier, you cannot take it back to a branch, and the hybrid kits carry a six-week wait. What you get from buying at Wilko rather than direct is mostly a familiar checkout.
If you have a garden, a south-facing wall or a flat roof, these are good kits. If you have a balcony, take Wilko at its word and look at a kit sold for balconies instead.
All Six Wilko Kits
| Kit | Wilko code | Price | Panels | Delivery by | Register ref |

| Pro Compact 515W, hybrid mount | 0883376 | £599 | 1 × 515W TOPCon | 18 Nov | UKSOL/21008/V1/A4 |
| Pro Single Panel 460W, ground mount | 0883374 | £679 | 1 × 460W bifacial | 14 Oct | UKSOL/21002/V1/A2 |
| Pro Duo 890W, hybrid mount | 0883377 | £849 | 2 × 445W | 18 Nov | UKSOL/21007/V1/A3 |

| Pro 2 Panel 890W, ground mount | 0883375 | £999 | 2 bifacial panels | 14 Oct | UKSOL/21003/V1/A2 |
Stock on 7 October: 20+ of most kits, 14 of the 1030W, and one 1260W left.
We matched each Wilko kit to its register entry by wattage and mount type. Wilko lists them under its own model codes (UKS001 to UKS006), not the UKS-PRO-… strings on the register, so check the model on the box against the register when it arrives.
Panel wattage above 800W is not a fault. Every kit uses an 800W microinverter, the legal ceiling for socket install. A 1260W panel array just means the inverter hits that ceiling for more hours of the day and in weaker light. It does not mean 1260W reaches your socket.
Is It Certified? Yes, All Six
Since 27 August 2026, a plug-in kit can only be legally self-installed into a socket if it holds a compliant listing under the Plug-in Solar device type on the ENA Type Test Register. UKSOL holds seven such entries, all compliant, and the six Wilko kits correspond to six of them. None includes a battery, so the battery exclusion from the socket route does not apply.
That puts UKSOL in a short list. Many heavily marketed brands hold register entries only under other device types, which do not permit socket install. Our certified kit tracker keeps the full list.
The Balcony Problem
On the 515W, 890W, 1030W and 1260W hybrid kits, Wilko's product description says plainly that the kit is not suitable for balconies. "Hybrid mount" here means a frame that works on a wall or on the ground. Ballast for ground mounting is not included.
This matters because many people searching for Wilko solar are searching for balcony solar. Mounting one of these on a railing is outside what the seller supports, and if it fails or falls you will have a hard time arguing it was fit for purpose.
If a balcony is what you have, look at kits sold for balcony rails instead. Our budget kit guide and the tracker list certified ones.
Wilko vs Argos vs UKSOL Direct
The same UKSOL range is also sold at Argos, Very, Homebase and UKSOL's own store.
| Kit | Wilko | UKSOL direct | Argos (reported, not verified by us) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro Compact 515W hybrid | £599 | — | £599 |
| Pro Duo 890W hybrid | £849 | — | £849 |
| Pro Max 1260W hybrid | £989 | — | £989 |
| 460W ground | £679 | £599 | £849 |
| 890W ground | £999 | £899 | £999–£1,199 |
On the ground-mount kits, buy direct from UKSOL instead. Its own store had them £80 and £100 cheaper than Wilko when we checked on 22 September. On the hybrid kits, Wilko and the reported Argos prices are identical. Argos blocks automated price checks, so its figures come from press reports in August and September and may have changed.
Wilko's category page says "Free Home Delivery" while the product pages show £4.99. Check the total at checkout.

The Weak Points
No store returns. Returns are free within 14 days, but by courier only. A two-panel kit is a large, heavy parcel to send back, so measure your space before ordering.
The hybrid kits are a six-week wait. On 7 October, Wilko quoted delivery by 18 November for every hybrid kit. The ground kits arrive within a week.
Warranty wording is vague. The two ground-mount pages state a ten-year warranty. The four hybrid pages just say "a warranty", with no length. UKSOL is the warrantor either way; ask before you buy if it matters to you.
No reviews yet. Wilko shows no customer ratings on any of the six.
Registering It
These are solar-only kits within the 800W limit, so you use the notification route, not a DNO application. Register at myplugin.solar after installation. You do not need permission in advance or an electrician.

Should You Buy From Wilko?
Buy if: you have a garden, wall or flat roof with good sun, you want a certified kit with no paperwork beyond a two-minute registration, and you prefer a familiar checkout to buying direct.
Look elsewhere if: you want to mount on a balcony railing, you want to return it in person, or you need it before mid-November and want a hybrid kit.
Realistic payback, at the 26.32p/kWh Ofgem cap rate, for a well-sited south-facing install:
| Kit | Est. generation | Saving at 100% use | Payback | Saving at 50% use | Payback |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 515W, £599 | 420–480 kWh | £111–£126 | 4.8–5.4 yrs | £55–£63 | 9.5–10.9 yrs |
| 890W hybrid, £849 | 700–800 kWh | £184–£211 | 4.0–4.6 yrs | £92–£105 | 8.1–9.2 yrs |
| 1260W, £989 | 850–950 kWh | £224–£250 | 4.0–4.4 yrs | £112–£125 | 7.9–8.8 yrs |
Two-panel kits pay back faster because the inverter, mount and cabling cost much the same whether you have one panel or two. Self-consumption is the big variable: exported units from a plug-in kit typically earn nothing, because most Smart Export Guarantee tariffs need MCS certification.

FAQs
Q: Does Wilko sell plug-in solar panels? A: Yes. Six UKSOL Plug-In Solar Pro kits, £599 to £999 inc VAT, online only with home delivery, as at 7 October 2026.
Q: Are Wilko's solar kits legal to plug into a socket?
A: Yes. All six match compliant Plug-in Solar entries for UKSOL Ltd on the ENA Type Test Register, which permits socket self-install under SI 2026/848. Register at myplugin.solar after fitting.
Q: Can I put a Wilko solar kit on my balcony? A: Wilko says no for the hybrid-mount kits: their pages state "not suitable for balconies". They are designed for walls and the ground.
Q: Can I collect or return a Wilko solar kit in store? A: No. They are delivered direct from the supplier, Click & Collect is unavailable, and returns (free, within 14 days) are by courier.
Q: Is Wilko cheaper than Argos for plug-in solar? A: The hybrid kits cost the same as the prices reported for Argos. For the ground-mount kits, UKSOL's own store was cheaper than both (£599 and £899 on 22 September). We could not verify Argos's current prices directly.
Q: Which Wilko kit is best value? A: For most gardens, the 890W hybrid at £849 or the 1260W at £989. Two panels generate far more for a modest price step, so they pay back faster than the single-panel 515W.
