Argos Plug-In Solar Panels: All 6 UKSOL Kits and Prices (2026)

This article contains affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This does not influence our recommendations — we call out weaknesses as plainly as strengths.

Yes, Argos sells plug-in solar. It stocks six UKSOL "Plug-In Solar Pro" kits, and on 8 October 2026 they ranged from £539.10 to £989 including VAT. Argos was the first big UK retailer to list plug-in kits after the law changed on 27 August 2026.

Every kit matches a compliant Plug-in Solar listing on the ENA Type Test Register, so all six can legally be plugged into an ordinary socket under SI 2026/848.

Right now the two ground-mount kits are 10% off, which makes Argos the cheapest place we have found for both of them, cheaper than Wilko and UKSOL's own store.

Prices checked 8 October 2026. Argos prices change often; check the listing before you buy.

The Short Answer

Argos is a sound place to buy a certified plug-in kit, and at the moment it is the best-value place for UKSOL's ground-mount kits. The 890W ground kit at £764.10 is £135 less than UKSOL direct and £235 less than Wilko.

On the four hybrid-mount kits, Argos charges exactly what Wilko does, so buy wherever delivery suits you.

The one thing to get right before ordering is where the panels will go. These are wall and ground kits. If you have a balcony, read the balcony section first.

All Six Argos Kits

Kit Argos price Panels Register ref
Pro Compact 460W, ground mount £539.10 (was £599) 1 × 460W bifacial UKSOL/21002/V1/A2
Pro Compact 515W, hybrid mount £599 1 × 515W TOPCon UKSOL/21008/V1/A4
Pro Duo 890W, ground mount £764.10 (was £849) 2 bifacial panels UKSOL/21003/V1/A2
Pro Duo 890W, hybrid mount £849 2 × 445W UKSOL/21007/V1/A3
Pro Plus 1030W, hybrid mount £899 2 × 515W UKSOL/21012/V1/A3
Pro Max 1260W, hybrid mount £989 2 × 630W UKSOL/21013/V1/A2

Argos catalogue numbers we could confirm: 9593202 (460W ground), 9973743 (1030W), 9837133 (1260W).

We matched each kit to its register entry by wattage and mount type. Check the model on the box against the register when it arrives.

Panel wattage above 800W is not a fault. Every kit uses an 800W microinverter, the legal ceiling for socket install. A bigger panel array just means the inverter reaches that ceiling for more of the day and in weaker light.

Is It Certified? Yes, All Six

Since 27 August 2026, a plug-in kit can only be legally self-installed into a socket if it holds a compliant listing under the Plug-in Solar device type on the ENA Type Test Register. UKSOL Ltd holds seven such entries, all compliant, and the six Argos kits correspond to six of them. None includes a battery, so the battery exclusion from the socket route does not apply.

Plenty of heavily advertised brands are not in that position: they hold register entries only under other device types, which do not permit socket install. Our certified kit tracker keeps the full list.

The Balcony Question

Wilko's listings for the same four UKSOL hybrid-mount kits say they are "not suitable for balconies". "Hybrid mount" means a frame for a wall or the ground, and ground ballast is not included. The ground-mount kits, as the name says, are for the ground.

If a balcony railing is your only option, choose a kit sold for balcony mounting instead. Our budget kit guide and the tracker list certified ones.

Registering It

These are solar-only kits within the 800W limit, so you use the notification route, not a DNO application. Register at myplugin.solar after installation. You do not need permission in advance or an electrician.

Which Argos Kit Should You Buy?

Best value: the 890W ground kit at £764.10. Two panels for not much more than one, at the lowest price we have seen anywhere.

Smallest outlay: the 460W ground kit at £539.10. Sensible if you only have room for one panel.

Most output: the 1260W hybrid at £989. The oversized array keeps the 800W inverter near its ceiling longer, which helps most on east- or west-facing walls.

Realistic payback, at the 26.32p/kWh Ofgem cap rate, for a well-sited south-facing install:

Kit Est. generation Saving at 100% use Payback Saving at 50% use Payback
460W ground, £539.10 400–460 kWh £105–£121 4.5–5.1 yrs £53–£61 8.9–10.2 yrs
890W ground, £764.10 700–800 kWh £184–£211 3.6–4.2 yrs £92–£105 7.3–8.3 yrs
1260W hybrid, £989 850–950 kWh £224–£250 4.0–4.4 yrs £112–£125 7.9–8.8 yrs

Self-consumption is the big variable: exported units from a plug-in kit typically earn nothing, because most Smart Export Guarantee tariffs need MCS certification.
